Board of Education
The Governing Board members of the Mesa Vista Consolidated School District work hard to help maintain high standards in education. They are dedicated to ensuring all students in the district receive a quality education and achieve their academic goals.

Marvyn Jaramillo, Board Vice President

 Marvyn Jaramillo graduated from Mesa Vista High School in 1995.  Shortly after graduation, he decided to join the National Guard and went on to boot camp in Fort Knox, Kentucky.   After boot camp, he completed advanced individual training in Aberdeen, Maryland.  Upon completion of military training, Mr. Jaramillo went on to Northern New Mexico Community College, where he received his AAS degree in Criminal Justice.  He then decided to further his education and graduated from New Mexico Highlands University with a BA in Criminal Justice.  In 1999, his law enforcement career began with the New Mexico State Police.  He then moved on to San Juan Tribal Police, Tesuque Tribal Police, and New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole.  In 2004, he was deployed to Iraq to defend his country where he completed an 18 month deployment.  Today, Marvyn is currently a Deputy with the Santa Fe Sheriff's Department.  He has 14 years experience in Law Enforcement and is still active with the NM National Guard.  He has served 18 years so far and is a Staff Sergeant with the 1115th Det 3 Transportation Company.  He is married and has three children. He is currently serving his second term as School Board President for Mesa Vista Consolidated School District.  He has stated that he strongly believes in education and transparency within the school district. After all, he says, our children are the future for us!

Jessica Lovato Manzanares is a graduate from Mesa Vista’s class of 1993.  Jessica is proud she comes from a family of educators.  Her paternal grandmother Cordelia Lovato was a teacher/principal for over 40 years serving schools in La Madera and Ojo Caliente.  Her father Edward Lovato retired serving 19 years as a Special Needs Coordinator for the Headstart Program serving districts throughout Northern New Mexico.  Her mother Edna Lovato is currently a Teacher’s assistant at the Ojo Caliente Elementary School with 24 years of service.  Education has been and still is a topic of conversation in Jessica’s house. 

Jessica currently resides in La Madera where she lives with her husband Juan Manzanares and their two children, Maryssa and Antonio “Tony”.  Jessica is employed with Los Alamos National Science and will complete 20 years of employment in December 2013.  Jessica is a Training Specialist II with the Training Division developing Nuclear Facility Training Programs. 

Jessica attended UNM-LA, Northern Community College, and NMSU studying Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in Children with special needs. 

Jessica enjoys spending time with her family when she’s not at work.  She enjoys attending her husband’s roping events cheering him on from the stands.  She enjoys assisting her daughter, Maryssa with her 4-H projects.  She also enjoys watching little Tony mutton bust (ride sheep) at the local rodeo events.  You will see Jessica at all Maryssa’s basketball games and loves cheering on the Mesa Vista Trojans. 

Jessica wants to see the Mesa Vista School District succeed in all areas.  Jessica’s primary reason for being on the school board is to simply to get involved.  She not only cares for the students, she also wants the teachers and staff to succeed and to feel supported and most of all appreciated.  She wants the campus’ in both Ojo Caliente and El Rito to have what they need to provide a comfortable and safe environment for the children of the community. 

Jessica hopes that with her education, work experience, role as a mother and wife, she will bring a strong and valuable dynamic to the existing school board.

Andy R. Lopez, Board Member

Mr. Andy Lopez graduated from Mesa Vista High School in 1971. He attended the University of New Mexico before transferring to New Mexico Highlands University where he graduated with a double major in Biology and Social Science in 1977. He earned his MBA from the College of Santa Fe in 1991.

During the summers of his college years he worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory until joining them full time in 1973. He worked on the Controlled Thermo-Nuclear Reactor Experiment that was attempting to fuse hydrogen atoms to each other to create energy that could be used to power the country.

He returned to teach Social Science at Mesa Vista Middle and High School from 1978-1979. During this time he taught grades 8th-12th.

Mr. Lopez has plenty of experience with the Mesa Vista School Board. He was first elected to it in 1997. He served until 2001 during which time he was elected to President in 1999. He was then re-elected in 2003 and served until 2007. During this time he served as Secretary from 2003-2005 and President 2006-2007. He was currently re-elected in 2015 and is served as President until 2016. 

Mr. Lopez is also currently the CEO of Las Clinicas Del Norte. He started in 1984 and has helped grow the clinics from one small medical program that was started by the Mesa Vista School District to the organization that now has five sites that service the surrounding communities with three practicing locations and four school based clinics.
